Student Registration

IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

1) GETTING STARTED - In order to participate in the Parent Taught Driver Education program, please review the PTDE Program Requirements.

2) REGISTER for our Parent Taught Driver Education Course. Once you have completed the registration process, you will receive a Registration Email, confirming the login credentials.

3) CHOOSE A DRIVING INSTRUCTOR - To participate in the Parent Taught Driver Education program, determine if you are eligible to be an instructor by reviewing the Parent-Instructor Requirements.

4) PURCHASE THE PARENT-TAUGHT DRIVER EDUCATION INSTRUCTOR DESIGNATION SERVICE APPLICATION (PACKET). This Parent-Taught Driver Education Program Guide is required to be purchased PRIOR to beginning the program.

5) COMPLETE MODULES 1-3 IN THE ONLINE PTDE COURSE. Upon completion of the first 3 Modules, your DE-964 (for Learner License Only) Certificate will be issued. This certificate will be needed in order to take the written learner license/permit test at a DPS facility.  

TAKE YOUR LEARNER'S PERMIT TEST ONLINE! To avoid the stress and hassle of taking the written test at a DPS facility, you will also have the option to upgrade and take the written learner license/permit test online. Students who elect to take the learner's license/permit test online will receive notation on their DE-964 Certificate as proof of completion. An upgrade fee in the amount of $45.00 will be applicable should you wish to take your learner's license/permit test online.

6) GET YOUR LEARNER LICENSE AT THE DPS.

7) COMPLETE THE REMAINING MODULES IN THE ONLINE PTDE COURSE AND THE BEHIND-THE-WHEEL TRAINING.

8) COMPLETE THE IMPACT TEXAS TEEN DRIVERS PROGRAM (ITTD).

9) GET YOUR PROVISIONAL LICENSE AT THE DPS.
